Another critique! And this time, it’s of Dan and Rob’s fantasy trope podcast. Take a listen, then come back.

We have a pretty great poll, too, so let us know in the comments about it.

  1. Ree says:

    Highlights:
    * The George Clooney Fiasco.
    * Tom (always wrong) admits he is wrong.
    * Jayne Cobb. Just…Jayne Cobb.
    * The Primrose thing.

    Lowlights:
    * Colbert and Stewart – you’ll die a thousand fiery deaths because they are so useless in a fantasy quest, but the social commentary will be first rate.
    * Tom’s yawns make us feel under-appreciated as an audience.

    Other Stuff:
    * The Gollum character is that guy that any sane person would just kill, but whom the hero spares to the joy of all since said annoying bad guy has an important part to play in the fate of the world. As such, I choose Richard Parker from the Life of Pi.
    * I totally called the Rudy = Samwise thing. Thanks for knowing that I would.

    • Tom says:

      Was I yawning? That doesn’t sound like me. What about my zest for life? I have way too much zest for life to ever yawn.

      Good job on the Rudy = Samwise.

    • Austin says:

      Okay, yes, the George Clooney thing was hysterical. “No, it’s…what did I say?” lol

      PS – the line was “holy rusted metal, Batman.” “What?” “This metal…it’s rusty and full of holes.”

      But I have to disagree…Clooney didn’t kill the Batman franchise. That was Joel Schumacher. He’s the one who came in and just started casting the biggest names he could find regardless of whether it was a good idea.
